Traveling is a great joy. Seeing people and cultures different from our own is a great learning experience. The fun multiplies when the experience is extremely diverse and brings us to views which wouldn’t have been available elsewhere. Dubai is one such place where the old and the new stand side by side and deliver the most enthralling experiences in the world. One can move from the urban center, which houses some of the tallest buildings in the entire world, to a desert just by taking a short drive.

Dubai wasn’t always the glitzy vacation hotspot which it has become now. It has covered this long milieu in a very short amount of time and, in doing so, it has surpassed many other competitors by a huge margin. Unlike many other oil-rich countries in the region, the claim to fame of Dubai is the scenic views which are being offered and the way they attract the visitors.

Burj Khalifa stands at the height of the 930 meters drive and the view from the top of the building attracts many. There are high-speed elevators to take people to the top where then can enjoy the great panorama of the city with desert on the one side, ocean on the other and the tall buildings in the center of both of these. Even though the views from the top of the building are simply staggering with many attempts being made in an effort of replicate this decision by the public. The surroundings of Burj Khalifa include sights like the Dubai Fountain which are a great place for the public to gather and enjoy.

The trip to Dubai should also include a visit to one of the oldest preserved places in Dubai. The museum is built in Al-Fahidi port which was built as a means of the protection of Dubai Creek in 1787. This building of mud and plaster has served many different purposes over the course of the history including its use as a residence by members of the royal family, military garrison as well as a prison.

The museum is now a host of a great number of exhibitions. The exhibitions throw light on different issues which have affected the lives of the local Bedouins throughout the history. One must go to the museum to better understand and appreciate the importance of diversity and the lifestyle of the locals over the course of time.

Dubai Creek has affected the economy of the region from an extremely old time. The creek has had a special place in the growth of the city. The human population began to settle along the creek for as much as 4000 years back – the reason was simple, food in the form of readily available fish. The place is a great reminder of the humble roots of Dubai as a stopover for business whereas it is now a major player in the world of business itself. It is a very humbling experience and should be included in the list of anyone who plans on visiting Dubai.

The Jumeirah mosque is considered by many as one of the most beautiful mosques and a great example of Muslim architecture. The design of the mosque is based on the design of the Al-Azhar mosque in Egypt, in fact, it is an exact replica of the Egyptian mosque which has been increased to 8 times its original size. The mosque looks stunning in the evening which is when it attracts the highest number of visitors to the place.

No mention of Dubai can be complete without a discussion of the world’s one and only 7-star hotel which has been a pride of the city for quite a long time. The internet is full of pictures of the hotel which resemble a billowing sail. The best pictures are taken from the beach when the sun is setting behind the hotel. There is one caveat, though, the Burj Al Arab has been servicing the guests from all parts of the world but it is one the most expensive size which makes the world a less inclusive place. Even though the hotel is expensive, you can save some money by offering them Groupon discount coupons this year.
