Picture this… New Jersey 1970’s
A wild child was born; she could not sit still or quench her desire to see the world. This young girl with a gypsy soul packed her bags, moved to New York City and never looked back.
She rented a small studio apartment on west 30th street where contentment found her for the first time. She lived happily in Manhattan for nearly two decades where she gave birth to an adorable son named Cairo.
A tragic turn of events landed this city-girl and her son on a different kind of island; one much smaller and less trendy than Manhattan…
…A very small town where the food is fried, the people are too religious and Jimmy Buffet is king.
Suburban life felt like a low-budget B movie to her; it was as if she was suddenly living in a weird sitcom much like the old TV show “Northern Exposure.”
This sassy city-mom was completely alone trying unsuccessfully to fit-in with the local mothers and island life…
So she threw away her high heels; bought some flip-flops and turned inward to re-invent herself.
Buddhaful Britt is my story; it was created as an online magazine with monthly articles offered to subscribers and guests alike. These short stories can be funny and sarcastic like the Jersey Girl I am; while other times I share inspirational life lessons, or detail the interesting places we have traveled.
In hopes of escaping my island paradise one day, I became a thirty something journalism student at the University of South Florida. I am also a co-writer for the City Moms network in the Tampa Bay area. <–Click.
Recently though, portions of my page have morphed into the most beautiful love story about a Jersey Girl marrying the man of her dreams, a Sikh from New Delhi… and the hilarity that ensues.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking one of my wee stories. You certainly have lived an interesting and adventurous life and I’m always surprised to encounter someone who could actually afford to live in Manhattan.
Of course, I used to live in San Francisco, but that was many decades ago.

You’re welcome. In the early 1980s (yes, I’m old), a person with a modest income could rent a flat with three roommates. Today, you pretty much have to earn six-figures for anything halfway civilized.

OMG you are me – a city girl ( London) expected to survive in an alien country she didn’t and couldn’t fit into. I went travelling – I guess that’s what you did too.
