C'mon Inner Peace… I Don't Have All Damn Day

The Anti New Year Resolution

By the time you read this, it will just be some random day and my master plan will have worked brilliantly.

(((evil laugh)))

I am certain you have transformed into that hot little number you had envisioned becoming by March of this year with all those New Years promises you made to yourself,  correct?

I know you have been working hard at the gym each and every day;  you consistently maintain way more than 10,000 steps on your not-so-brand-new FITBIT…  RIGHT?

You promised… I heard you.

I kept seeing all this cheesy non-sense on my Facebook wall about New Year’s resolutions and “365 blank pages to start writing this years book?”

Bleh…

I remember seeing a friends post in mid-December, just a random day, where she said “why not start my healthy habits today?”

I thought long and hard about her post; she was right… seriously.

A random day in December was as good a day as any, so is May 16th, August 4th and TODAY!

People want to allow themselves one last cheese cake, cigarette pack or lazy day watching Netflix instead of doing those things now.

They like to say good-bye; have one last horrah… create closure.

…But I think my friend has the best shot of keeping her promise to herself because she didn’t wait for one last sinful taste of Tiramisu; she said “Screw it, I’m starting right now.”

The idea for this post came on New Years Eve.

My Facebook wall was being filled with blessings for the New Year and hopeful people thinking ridiculous things such as “next year will be the best year ever.”

YAWN.

As if, hours before the clock strikes some magic number, our lives are set to be miraculously transformed into everything we hope and dreamed.

One digit on the end of a made-up time period has EVERYTHING to do with your luck, love-life and happiness… apparently?

How did that go for you? I really want to know. Because, each day we have a new chance to wake up and start again.

Shouldn’t we put effort into culminating our dreams each and every morning that we wake up? Shouldn’t we start making conscious choices on a daily basis to create happiness?

I constantly say that life is simply about choices.

A choice to get rid of the people who bring you down. A choice to eat better, take a jog, or even a choice to give a little back to the community. You have this opportunity every single time you open your eyes from a long nights sleep… to change.

Choices!

Why do people wait 365 days to start a new habit that inevitably fails? In the meantime they gain weight, or let themselves sink deeper into some imaginary hole of depression or mediocrity.

BABY STEPS. Just keep moving forward… Every single day.

How did your New Years resolution go? Did you keep it? I want to hear about it comment below.
